If you weigh yourself, you may be doing it to keep track of weight loss progress or to maintain your current weight. Whether you do daily or monthly weigh-ins, it is important to make sure you are doing it properly. This way, you can get an accurate weight.
To ensure you are doing it correctly, here are some things you need to now.
Weigh At The Same Time Of Day
When you weigh yourself, make sure you do it at the same time of the day. If you weigh yourself one day in the morning and the next day at night, you won’t get an accurate idea of the changes in your weight.
This is because during the day you eat food and drink water, which means your body is lightest in the morning as you have yet to consume anything. So, make sure to choose a time, the ideal time being first thing in the morning, and stick with it.
Use The Bathroom Before Weigh-in
If you step on a scale first thing in the morning, it is wise to use the washroom first. Your body stores water to keep it hydrated. And, when you lose weight, you tend to lose a significant amount of water weight. You can even test this yourself. Try stepping on the scale prior to using the washroom and then after. You may notice that the scale shows a lower number after using the bathroom.
Wear Similar Clothing
Your clothing adds weight to your body. This can alter what number appears on your scale. Try to wear minimal clothing and wear similar clothing each time. This way, your clothes won’t affect the scale that much and you can get an accurate weight.
