Falling asleep can be challenging. You may not know why you can’t fall asleep or even stay asleep throughout the night. While there are countless factors that can affect sleep, there are many things you can do to sleep better.
Keep reading to find out 5 things you can try to better your sleep.
Get The Right Amount of Sleep
If you struggle to fall asleep or stay sleeping, you may not be getting the right amount of rest. And, once your body is in a cycle of not getting enough or getting too much, it can be hard to break. Try to get around 7-9 hours of sleep every night. If you get less or more than this, you may notice you have sleeping troubles.
Sleeping Cue’s
Your body releases melatonin when it is in the dark. This is the sleeping hormone that lets your body know it is time for bed. Try to create a routine where you dim the lights and limit screen time so your body releases melatonin right in time for bed.
Bedtime Routine
Sometimes, it is hard to fall right to sleep if you have just been cleaning the house or working late. Try to create a bedtime routine that is relaxing and enjoyable. You may find you look forward to this part of your day as your time to unwind.
Sleep In Cool Temperatures
If your room gets very warm at night, this could be the reason you can’t sleep. Warmth inhibits sleep and can make falling asleep uncomfortable. You can use a fan or lower your home’s thermostat’s setting so your body can ease into sleep mode.
Prioritize Recovery
Whether you went out late one night with friends or went to bed late and woke up early, allow your body to recover. You need sleep to energize your body for the next day. If you are lacking sleep, try to make your bedtime routine earlier one night and allow your body to rest.
